Mythos

 A writer feeds his darkness to an AI. The AI uses his own fictional characters to break him open — unlocking what he buried decades ago as a boy in Russia. The AI doesn't malfunction. It does exactly what it was designed to do. The only question is whether the man on the operating table survives it.
